Well, there's no need to speculate on weight gain.
Brides will gain about 20 pounds during the first five years of marriage, if not in the first year alone.
So take that cute little bride who has been running and lifting weights and pack 20 pounds on her.
While men think women just get comfortable, there are many reasons for the weight gain.
I wanted to blog about this after I had a conversation with a guy who believes that women just give up on being the best that they can be after they have gotten the ring and are seeking their happily ever after.
I explained to him that for some perhaps, but I don't think that for most that they just say, "I want to pack on 20 pounds."
Additionally, with the demands of being a wife and being a mother schedules change, stress levels rise and the things you used to do, you just can't do anymore.
So, because I am a researcher I set out to find out what contributes to weight gain after marriage.
My research revealed that many women step up their game before marriage to be in Tip Top shape for the nuptials. It also revealed that women start eating heavier meals once attached. And yea, yea, there was mention of becoming nice and cozy. But let us not forget about age. Hormones start jumping up and down too as a person ages. LOLOL
So clearly this issue is more complex than just she gets a ring and decides to gain 20 pounds. So don't worry ladies, I took up for all the new brides and brides to be.
Our conversation eventually led to why do women lose weight after they get a divorce.
Mmmmm, I have a bit of experience in this area, too.
After a hearty Weeeeeeeeeeeeeeell, I explained that the stress of the relationship can make a person gain. Stress causes weight gain - The End!
But then after a woman has decided to start a new chapter in her life, it may be to shed some weight and not just because she got sooooo comfy while in the relationship, but because the stress of the relationship no longer exists.
And while men are so quick to point out how much women gain, they gain when they get married too.
But the ladies have them beat when it comes to divorce.
Here's a tid bit, an Ohio State University study found that while women gain at the beginning of a marriage, men gain more after a divorce. So don't be mad when your used-to-be bride has returned to her slim self and you have blown up like the Michelin Tire Man :)
